May 19, 2012, was our day for Angkor Wat. I looked at images of this beautiful creation a couple of days before our scheduled departure. And, that got me excited for this trip (plus, it’s my first out of the country trip with Tin!). But, admiring it through pictures is nothing compared to witnessing its beauty in person. It was indeed a privilege.
A van picked us up from the Golden Mango Inn at around 6:00 AM. We got to Angkor Wat in time for the sunrise. It was magnificent! I had the chance to take these pictures.
Then, we went back to the inn for breakfast. Tin and I weren’t talking since she got pissed earlier that day, after it took me longer than my allotted time to finish using the bathroom. Although I knew that I could go with the group to explore Angkor Wat further, I chose to stay with Tin at the Golden Mango Inn for the rest of the day. After all, I wanted to experience Angkor Wat with her. And, going there without her would defeat the purpose. So, after informing the group about my choice, I requested that they bring my camera with them to take pictures of Angkor Wat that I can show to my parents. Thankfully, they obliged.
Here are the beautiful pictures of Angkor Wat taken by Angel, Angge, Ivy, and Yula using my camera:
To be clear, I don’t regret not joining them to explore more of Angkor Wat. I got to rest at the inn and got to have a wonderful conversation with our hosts. And, I also had the chance to get a Khmer massage and have a good laugh with Tin, while at it! I, however, vow to visit Angkor Wat again at least once more in my lifetime. Maybe in the next couple of years. I would love to learn more about the history and the story of the place. And, take really good pictures of the beautiful creation of the Khmer people.
