Palawan will always be one of those places I wouldn’t have second thoughts visiting again. I first set foot on it when I went to Puerto Princesa a few years ago to see the Underground River, snorkel at Honda Bay, and impulse-scuba dived at Dos Palmas. The experience was so awesome that when Justine said that she wanted to book a flight to anywhere and suggested Palawan (Justine: Let’s go to El Nido!), I immediately said yes. The subsequent events just came as pleasant surprises and miracles, I would say. 🙂
If you're looking for a place that could fill your craving for a road trip, get sun-kissed, chill, surf or skim board, and enjoy your weekend, drive (or take the bus) to San Juan, La Union and stay at Flotsam and Jetsam Hostel. Bonus would be that they play really nice music, have lots of bean bags where you can lounge for almost the entire day (my friends and I did), and serve uber-awesome food. Oh, and we visited this place again a couple of weekends ago, when electricity and water were out in La Union - they provided great customer service, a definite plus in our list.
If 2012 was about recreating myself and my life, 2013 was a year of taking things on. Despite and perhaps because of my commitment issues and fear of making mistakes, at the onset, I was intentional in making 2013 a banner year for my newly-recreated life. And, truth be told, I enjoyed every bit of it. 🙂
