My friend and I were headed to Baguio for an overnight trip, and I already knew where I wanted to stay. Giraffe Boutique Hotel in Baguio had been on my shortlist for a while — the guest reviews were consistently good, Mangiamo Ristorante and Pizzeria had its own strong following, and the room we were eyeing had separate beds, which sealed it for us.

The location works in the hotel’s favor. The Mansion, Wright Park, and Mines View Park are all just a few minutes away. We even took the jeepney back from Mines View Park after pasalubong shopping and strawberry taho tasting — just one of the many things to do in Baguio that are within easy reach of the hotel.

Getting a Grab from the hotel is doable, though we found it slightly harder when we stayed there, perhaps because it was a weekend. There’s also a Grumpy Joe branch nearby, which we had on our list but didn’t get to.

The hotel sits in what feels like a residential part of Baguio, which probably explains how quiet it was. The guests we came across were respectful and low-key — not the rowdy type, which made the whole stay feel more relaxed.

But when you factor in the quality of the food at Mangiamo, the warmth of the service, and the overall atmosphere, the value holds up.
